Domain Name Registration
You will need to register a domain name (e.g., http://www.yourdomainname.com) for your website. We can do it for you, or you can take care of the registration yourself.
- Register your domain name yourself on your own. One of the more popular registrar companies is GoDaddy.com. If you prefer to go directly through GoDaddy.com, you'll notice they offer many products and services related to domain names, which can be somewhat confusing. Don't accept other add-ons unless you know what it all means. World's Largest Registrar - GoDaddy.com
- Another option is to have your web hosting company register a domain name for you. Many offer this service. However, we suggest you keep the domain name registration and hosting separate. It's a little more effort, but you have more control. A hosting company may not want to register additional domain names for you unless you actually pay to host them all, or it may not be easy to do subdomains or make other additions. If you choose this option, be sure to read the fine print, as you may be locked in for a specific time period.
So, first decide on a domain name. After deciding on a domain name and registering it with a registrar, the next step is to set up web hosting for your website through a web host.
Domain Name Suggestion Tools
Most domain registrars and registration sites have domain suggestion tools. But there are other sites worth having a look at. Use these for research. Decide later where to do the actual domain registration. It's a good idea to keep all your domain registrations with one registrar to make it easier to keep track of renewal dates, expirations, etc.
